Gamifying Learning and Engagement in Library Services and Beyond - Day 2 In-Person
Join us for Day 2* of the library games event where we will dive into the world of gamification to explore how it could be used in teaching, learning, and engagement within library services!
Our guest speaker Aisling Coyne is going to speak about her experience in developing and using games for learning and teaching and demonstrate the 'What about Open Science?' game which aims to open up discussions about Open Science concepts and principles. No prior knowledge of Open Science is required to participate. This is followed by lightening talks from colleagues which will inspire and leave you with a toolkit of ideas to support active learning and innovation across UCC Library.

What about Open Science? ‘What about Open Science’ was developed by librarians Aisling Coyne, Sarah Coombs, and Katrine Sundsbø. This is a competitive Open Educational Resource ‘game’ designed to create discussion around common open science concepts and ideas that everyone should understand but do not always fully grasp. This game is suitable for all audiences with, or without previous understanding of open science. Participants do not need to prepare for the game in advance. Participants will be grouped into teams where they first name their ‘institution’ (team name) and begin playing the game to win BOBs (Bogus Open Bucks) to spend on Open Science initiatives at the end. |
