Paris Asleep (Paris qui Dort) - In-Person
We’re pleased to announce that the Creative Zone at UCC Library will be transformed into a cinema in collaboration with Cork International Film Festival to mark Bastille Day 2025. This special weekend of French film is presented in association with the Embassy of France and Alliance Francaise.
From a 1923 silent film where a mad scientist brings Paris to a standstill, to a staged romantic cruise that blends comedy and poignancy, the programme offers a unique opportunity to explore French cinema—free of charge—from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th July.
You can view the full programme and book your tickets here.
Paris Asleep (Paris qui Dort)
A mad scientist immobilises Paris with a mysterious ray. Paris is fixed, Paris falls asleep. Only the passengers of a plane, their pilot and the guard of the Eiffel Tower remain awake, and they are going to reconquer the capital. Improvised musical accompaniment by pianist, composer and musicologist Karol Beffa.
