An evening of Spoken Word with John Robb at UCC Library

An evening of Spoken Word with John Robb at UCC Library In-Person

University College Cork Library is delighted to welcome musician and author John Robb to UCC Library to discuss his new book, The Art of Darkness: The History of Goth. This event will consist of a talk from the author and audience Q&A, followed by a signing. Books will be available to purchase at the event.

The Art of Darkness is the first in-depth book on goth. It examines this enduring culture and the social, historical, and political backdrop that created the space for the goth scene to thrive and persist.

The book begins back in Roman times,  travels through the Middle Ages, the Romantic poets, all the way to the post-punk Generation Xerox which saw music, clothes and culture come together to create one of the most enduring pop cultures of them all that still resonates to this day.

The book is packed with interviews with the likes of Andrew Eldritch, Killing Joke, Bauhaus, The Cult, The Banshees, The Damned, Einsturzende Neubauten, Danielle Dax, Johnny Marr, Trent Reznor, Adam Ant, Laibach, The Cure, Nick Cave, and many others.

This is a Free event but registration is required
