Being FAIR with your Data

Being FAIR with your Data In-Person

Please note: this is an in-person workshop

During this workshop we will look in detail at the FAIR Principles of findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability and the requirements of a FAIR dataset. We will discuss how FAIR works for different types of data and disciplines, and the skills and resources required to have a FAIR dataset. Using the ‘How FAIR are your data? checklist’ we will assess a range of datasets for FAIRness and suggest improvements.

Participants are welcome to bring their own datasets or examples from within their discipline for use during the group discussion sessions. If you would like to bring your own data please let us know at researchdata@ucc.ie in advance of the workshop, so that we can prepare.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise and define the FAIR principles

  • Explain and interpret the FAIR principles

  • Apply the FAIR principles to their own data

  • Engage in a critical assessment of FAIR and comment on the FAIRness of a dataset

  • Evaluate commonly used data repositories for suitability and FAIRness.

Before the workshop, we ask you to do a small amount of preparation that will help you get the most out of the workshop, all information about the workshop and the preparitory matrials can be found on our Canvas page
