Research Data Management

Research Data Management In-Person

A data management plan (DMP) is a formal document that outlines the management and stewardship of data both during a research project, and after the project is completed. It describes the organization, storage, preservation and potential sharing of research outputs and it is an integral part of good research practice. DMPs encompass a wide range of activities, are an enabling tool for FAIR and Open Data and a requirement of many funders. During this workshop participants will be introduced to the most used DMP templates and the areas that should be addressed in a DMP. We will consider how to address legal and ethical issues regarding data management in your DMP and how to use a DMP to ensure a shareable, reproducible FAIR data outputs post-project. In groups will use sample DMPs to critically assess the necessary steps in a DMP to result in a FAIR dataset and consider what actions need to be taken to implement a DMP.
