Creative Commons (CC) licences for Research

Creative Commons (CC) licences for Research Online

Please note this is an online event which will take place on Teams. The  Teams liink will be sent out in the calendar entry when you register and in a reminder email before the event.

The FAIR Data Forum aims to provide a space in UCC  to share FAIR implementation stories, for peer learning and engaging with different perspectives, and to allow for feedback on the current and emerging needs of sustainable engagement with FAIR data sharing.

In this talk,  Dr Darius Whelan will introduce the various types of Creative Commons (CC) licences and discuss their relevance for researchers in any discipline.  The legal tools provided by CC help those who want to encourage reuse of their works by offering them for use under generous, standardised terms; those who want to make creative uses of works; and those who want to benefit from this symbiosis.

Dr Darius Whelan is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law, UCC.  His research and teaching interests include mental health law, Internet regulation and employment law.  He is Director of UCC’s LLM in Intellectual Property and E Law, co-founder of UCC’s IT law Clinic, and a member of Creative Commons.
