Avoiding Plagiarism: Quoting, Paraphrasing and Creating References (Online) Online
This workshop will introduce you to the concepts of plagiarism and of acknowledging sources in your assignments and research. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to
- Recognise and avoid practices that are classed as plagiarism
- Recognise the difference between citations and references and their importance in academic writing
- Apply a citation style to an information source
- Identify some of the tools available to help with citing and referencing
We will cover the different ways that plagiarism can occur, and how it can best be avoided. There will also be demonstrations of how to acknowledge sources within academic writing, and how to create full references for sources, as well as hands-on activities to help you practise relevant skills.
This session is open to all UCC members - registration is required.
