The aim of the session will be to explore how large language model (LLM) tools like ChatGPT and Copilot might be used as part of the information search process. The session will include discussion, demonstrations and hands-on exercises, and consideration of appropriate use of artificial intelligence (AI) and critical appraisal. 

 

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe in simple terms what large language models (LLMs) like CoPilot and ChatGPT are and how they work
  • Describe some of the potential uses, while being conscious of the limitations
  • Apply prompts in structured ways to obtain the best information for your needs
  • Evaluate the information you obtain through AI tools

 

Intended audience: UCC students with little to no experience in AI
