Cork Lifelong Learning Festival: Artificial Intelligence for Information Searching In-Person

The aim of the session will be to explore how large language model (LLM) tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot might be used as part of the information search process. The session will include discussion, demonstrations and hands-on exercises, and consideration of appropriate use of artificial intelligence (AI) and critical appraisal. 


Intended audience: anyone with little to no experience in AI 

Learning Objectives
On completing the session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe in simple terms what large language models like ChatGPT are and how they work
  • Describe some of the potential uses, while being conscious of the limitations
  • Apply prompts in a structured way to obtain the best information for your need
  • Evaluate the information you obtain through AI tools
