How to make your data FAIRer using metadata and LEGO® In-Person

Make your data FAIRer and describe it well - you will gain more traction for the discovery, interoperability and reuse of your research.

During this workshop at the Dora Allman room in The Hub, Dr Pádraig Mac Aodhgáin and Caroline Philpott of UCC Library will demonstrate how data can be made more accessible by following the FAIR Principles.

Metadata can include the documentation of data, file formats, persistent identifiers and licensing.

1) Firstly, they will look at the value of metadata to a FAIR data ecosystem, different types of metadata and some examples of metadata standards.

2) Secondly, participants will use LEGO® to look at the difference between structured and unstructured metadata and how metadata is used to ensure data can be reproduced (or at least very well explained).

LEGO® for Reproducibility game is based on Donaldson, M.  and Mahon, M. (2019) LEGO® Metadata for Reproducibility game pack. University of Glasgow. (doi:10.36399/gla.pubs.196477).

Please note this is an in-person event. Taking place in the Dora Allman Room, The Hub.
