Heritage Week 2026: A Lost Art? Handwriting in a Digital Age In-Person

For Heritage Week 2026, discover the history of handwriting through a unique selection of letters, diaries, manuscripts, and other archival materials from UCC Library's Special Collections and Archives. Spanning the 17th to 20th centuries, the exhibition will showcase the writings of authors, academics, scribes, and ordinary individuals, highlighting how handwriting has evolved in response to changing technologies, education, and social practices. Attendees will also take part in interactive handwriting exercises led by Special Collections and Archives staff, offering a hands-on connection to the past.

This will be a variation of a highly popular event that the Special Collections and Archives service ran as part of the Cork Lifelong Learning Festival.
